A Journey into the Inner World of a Kriya Yogi

Beyond the Powers: Discovering the Hidden Architecture of a Saint

This is a glimpse into the inner world of a new Kriya Yogi, as he gradually discovers the hidden siddhis, subtle powers, and inner wonders that unfold along the path of sincere spiritual practice.

The World Hidden Within

When I first became interested in Kriya Yoga, I was fascinated by stories of saints and yogis who possessed extraordinary powers. Like many seekers, I imagined that spiritual advancement would eventually lead to abilities beyond the reach of ordinary human beings.

Yet the world I discovered through the practice of Kriya Yoga was very different from what I expected.

What gradually opened before me was not merely a path toward powers, but a doorway into the inner structure of creation itself.

I discovered what might be called the hidden siddhis.

These are not borrowed powers. They are not gifts temporarily granted by some external being. They arise from within one’s own consciousness.

The First Hidden Siddhi

As I practiced Hong Sau meditation, the first siddhi that emerged was peace.

At first glance, peace may not seem like a remarkable discovery. Yet I gradually realized that what most of us call peace is not peace at all. It is often merely the temporary absence of problems, the forgetfulness of sleep, or the dulling of awareness through distraction and indulgence.

The peace I began to discover through meditation was entirely different.

It was an active state of being. A state in which I could sit in stillness with a deep feeling that everything was all right within my universe. It brought an inner contentment and quietness that did not depend upon anything happening around me.

Before this, peace seemed dependent upon circumstances. If life went well, I felt peaceful. If difficulties arose, peace disappeared. Yet through meditation I discovered a deeper kind of peace that existed independently of events.

It seemed to occupy my inner being like a cool, soft, calming current, creating a beautiful feeling throughout my mind and heart.

The more deeply I entered silence, the more I sensed that peace was not something I needed to create. It was something I needed to uncover.

It was as if I had spent my entire life standing on the surface of a stormy ocean, never realizing that far beneath the waves there existed an immense stillness untouched by wind or weather.

The noise of life continued, but it no longer possessed the same power over me.

I had discovered an inner sanctuary.

True Freedom — The Power of Calmness

From this peace emerged a second siddhi: calmness.

I discovered a dynamic aspect of peace, a very powerful state of calmness. Peace felt like a place of rest. Calmness felt like power held in perfect balance.

I discovered that I could walk through any storm in life while preserving this dynamic peace at the center of my being. Circumstances continued to change. Challenges continued to arise. I faced them with energy, vigor, and my full strength when needed, yet I was no longer swayed or disturbed by events in the way I once had been.

What surprised me most was that this calmness did not diminish my strength. It amplified it. I found myself more awake, more aware, and more fully engaged than before.

For the first time, I could face intense situations without losing a portion of my energy to fear, anxiety, irritation, or emotional turmoil. Something within me remained steady.

For the first time, I began to understand what true freedom means.

I truly felt free. Not because life had become easier, but because I was no longer controlled by the events around me. Whatever challenge appeared before me, I could meet it without losing myself in emotional reaction.

This freedom brought with it a deep confidence. I began to trust my own ability to remain centered regardless of what life placed before me.

The calmer I became, the clearer my perception became.

I began to understand why the masters place such importance on calmness. It is power under perfect control, the foundation upon which higher perception is built.

The Choice to be Happy

As I continued my daily sadhana, another siddhi gradually revealed itself.

I discovered that I could choose happiness at will.

This was perhaps one of the greatest surprises of all. For most of my life, I had unconsciously believed that happiness depended upon circumstances. If things went well, I felt happy. If they did not, happiness disappeared. Yet through Kriya Yoga, I began touching a source of joy that existed beneath all circumstances. It was not dependent upon success or failure, praise or criticism, gain or loss.

At first these moments of joy appeared only briefly. Yet over time they became more familiar.

What fascinated me was that they often appeared without any apparent cause. Nothing special had happened. Nothing had changed in my circumstances. Yet joy would suddenly arise from somewhere deep within me.

It felt as though it had always been there, quietly waiting. Waiting for my permission to emerge.

And all the while, I had been searching for it in people, achievements, possessions, and circumstances.

I began to understand that joy is not something the world gives to us. It is one of the natural qualities of the soul itself.

The more deeply I touched that inner source, the more I realized that happiness need not wait for permission from circumstances. It could arise from within.

For the first time, I understood that happiness was not something I had to chase. It was something I had to choose.

Sounds of Creation

As my Kriya Yoga practice deepened, even deeper mysteries started revealing themselves.

I found that I was developing an entirely new faculty of perception.

I began hearing sounds that did not seem to originate in the external world. At first they were faint, almost imperceptible, like a distant vibration hovering at the edge of awareness. As my concentration deepened, they became increasingly distinct.

The first sounds I became aware of were physical in nature. I could hear the flow of blood moving through my veins and the rhythm of my own heartbeat. Yet as my perception continued to deepen, I began hearing something entirely different.

Gradually, a high-pitched electronic buzzing sound appeared within my awareness, the sound of my own astral body.

As my sensitivity increased, even more extraordinary sounds began to emerge. They arose from within, without any external event producing them. Sometimes they resembled the hum of bees or the song of crickets. At other times they sounded like flowing water, the ringing of beautiful temple bells, the deep resonance of a gong, or the roar of a vast ocean.

Each sound possessed its own unique quality and character, yet they all seemed to arise from the same mysterious source.

The deeper I listened, the more clearly I heard the sound of creation itself.

And sometimes something remarkable would happen.

The individual sounds would begin to merge together until they became a single vast roaring sound of AUM. It felt like the powerful and comforting presence of creation itself.

AUM was no longer merely a concept or a sacred syllable.

I also began to understand why Paramhansa Yogananda called it the Great Comforter.

In the Darkness Behind Closed Eyes

As my focus at the Spiritual Eye deepened, a growing stillness settled over my mind. My inner vision began to stabilize, and I found myself entering a deeper state of awareness behind closed eyes.

At first, I began noticing small glimpses of light. They were brief and fleeting, appearing for only a moment before disappearing again. Yet over time they became steadier and remained for longer periods.

The first lights were tiny points, sometimes yellow and sometimes white.

As the days passed, those tiny points gradually began to expand. What had once been a small spark of light slowly revealed itself as a vibrant, living ring of golden light, shimmering and sparkling, with rays extending outward in every direction.

Then another change occurred.

The golden ring seemed to open, revealing a beautiful field of deep blue light within it.

At first I could only see a small white point in the center of that blue field. Yet as my concentration deepened and the experience became clearer, I realized that it was not merely a point of light. A beautiful five-pointed white star shining at the center of the blue field.

One day, this vision will expand into a tunnel of light through which consciousness itself can travel toward the cosmic center. Even now, the thought fills me with wonder.

I have begun to glimpse the lights of the chakras. What surprised me most was that they were nothing like the familiar VIBGYOR colours that are so often assigned to them. Instead, they seemed to follow the language of the elements themselves, expressing a very different order and beauty.

That is all I will reveal here. Some things are better discovered than described.

Prana Is My Power

Before Kriya Yoga, prana was merely a concept. Today it is a direct experience.

I can feel currents of life-force moving within me. I can observe how thoughts influence those currents. I can see how emotions alter their movement.

More remarkably, I am beginning to discover that prana responds to intention.

By directing awareness, concentration, devotion, and will, I can feel shifts occurring within the flow of energy itself. Emotional states that once felt heavy can be made lighter. Restlessness can be transformed into calmness. I am beginning to see that the movement of energy within me is far more responsive than I ever imagined.

What once appeared to be emotions now reveals itself as movements of energy. What once appeared to be moods now appears as changing patterns in the flow of life-force.

I am beginning to learn the language of prana.

With increasing control over prana comes increasing power. I can understand why the masters speak of extraordinary abilities arising through true pranayama (control of prana). Yet I am also beginning to understand that power alone is not enough.

The more I learn, the more I see that power without wisdom can easily be misused.

 – Power seeks to direct energy.

 – Wisdom seeks to align that energy with the Divine Mother’s plan.

And perhaps that alignment is the greater siddhi of all.

My Most Astonishing Discovery

What astonishes me most is that these discoveries feel less like acquiring something new and more like discovering something which was always present in me. A tool I did not recognize and did not know how to use till I learned it through Kriya Yoga.

The universe appears very different to me now.

Every meditation reveals another layer of mystery. Every glimpse inward uncovers another aspect of creation that was hidden in plain sight.

I once thought the powers of saints were the great wonder.

Now I realize that the greater wonder is the transformation that takes place within the saint long before those powers ever appear.

 – The Stillness of Peace.

 – The Freedom of Calmness.

 – The Choice of Happiness.

 – The Sound of Creation.

 – The Light Within.

 – The Power of Prana.

These are among the first treasures I have encountered on the path, and I know there are many more waiting to be unveiled.

They form only a small part of the hidden architecture upon which a saint is built.

I find myself looking forward to each meditation with a growing sense of anticipation for what may yet be revealed.
